Association Of Heritage Interpretation Award

I am very pleased to announce the Jersey Neolithic Longhouse has won a prestigious award in the category “Volunteer and Community Project” from the AHI (Association of Heritage Interpretation) at the “Discover Heritage Awards 2019” this year.

Louise Downie from Jersey Heritage, along with Derek and Astra Denton (Longhouse volunteers ) and I, were at the event in Bedford where the award was announced.

Derek, Astra and I (feeling rather like a proud father) with the Award.

The citation read “IN RECOGNITION OF AN OUTSTANDING PROJECT CO-PRODUCED WITH VOLUNTEERS OR IN THE COMMUNITY” and  “FOR INCLUSIVE VOLUNTEER INVOLVEMENT THROUGHOUT, AND A STRONG LEGACY OF TRAINED VOLUNTEERS ACTING AS GUIDES”.

It’s a brilliant achievement for the project and celebrates everyone’s incredible effort and enthusiasm.  I am personally happy that my project approach has been recognised for its positive results, and confirms my long held belief that volunteer involvement in projects like this bring something quite special and unique to the table.

Well done!  I’m immensely proud of you all!
